The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) North-West Regional Office on Wednesday, 19th August 2026, engaged staff of the National Civil Registration Authority (NaCRA) and the National Communications Authority (NatCA) in Port Loko District on integrity, transparency, accountability and corruption prevention.
Addressing participants, ACC North-West Regional Director, Zainab Othman, urged staff to uphold the highest standards of integrity, ethics and professionalism in the discharge of their duties. She stressed the need to reject bribery, favouritism and other forms of corruption, particularly in institutions that provide essential services directly to citizens.
Madam Othman underscored the importance of effectively operationalising Integrity Management Committees (IMCs) within Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), describing them as critical institutional mechanisms for mainstreaming anti-corruption measures and strengthening integrity in public offices.mShe encouraged staff to report suspected acts of corruption through the Commission’s toll-free lines 077 985 985, 077 986 986 and 8515 on all networks, or through the ACC’s regional offices.
Senior Public Education Officer, Samuel Junisa Sankoh, explained the rationale behind the Commission’s customised engagements, reminding the institutions of their commitments under existing Memoranda of Understanding with the ACC and the importance of adhering to their respective codes of conduct.
He described such engagements as important refresher sessions that reinforce ethical responsibilities and keep integrity, accountability and professionalism at the centre of public service delivery.
Public Education Officer, Dalton Shyllon, took participants through relevant provisions of the Anti-Corruption Act 2008, as amended in 2019, highlighting offences including abuse of office or position, embezzlement, bribery, forgery, soliciting or accepting an advantage, and misappropriation of public funds and property.
Responding on behalf of the institutions, NaCRA Regional Manager, Abdul M. Mansaray, and NatCA Senior Manager, Ahmed Kannah, expressed appreciation to the Commission for the engagement, describing it as timely and relevant.
They assured the ACC of their commitment to upholding their respective codes of conduct and supporting the national fight against corruption, noting that promoting integrity and preventing corruption is a collective responsibility.
The engagement concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing participants with an opportunity to seek clarification on corruption risks, reporting mechanisms and their responsibilities in promoting integrity within their institutions.
