For over two decades, Sallieu Mallo Sesay has faithfully served the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), not from the boardroom, but behind the scenes. As Head of Office Assistants, he has spent years ensuring the Commission's offices and washrooms are clean, welcoming and ready for work, quietly supporting the fight against corruption every single day.
This week, that same dedication took him thousands of miles away to China, where he proudly stood atop the Great Wall. For Mallo, it was more than an international training opportunity. It was the fulfilment of a dream he never imagined possible.
"This is an extraordinary gesture that will remain with me forever," he said.
Having served the Commission since its establishment in 2000, Mallo reflected on the significance of the opportunity: "I have been with this Commission since it was established in the year 2000 and this is the first time I, or any staff within my work category, is benefiting from this kind of opportunity."_ He expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of the Commission for including him among the beneficiaries of the China training.
The inclusion of office assistants, drivers and security personnel alongside senior, intermediate and junior staff sends a powerful message that every member of the Commission matters.
Over the past eight years under the leadership of Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala, recognition at the ACC has not been reserved for titles or rank. It has increasingly become a reward for commitment, loyalty and dedicated service.
For Sallieu Mallo Sesay, the journey to China is more than a passport stamp. It is a reminder that those who work quietly behind the scenes also deserve opportunities that change their lives, and memories that will last forever.
