DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION STRATEGY SECRETARIAT

MARIAMA NAVO

 Mariama Navo is the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) Secretariat at the Anti-Corruption Commission of Sierra Leone, where she leads the strategic coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the country’s anti-corruption framework.

She brings over thirteen years of progressive experience within the Commission, marked by a strong track record in policy development, public engagement, and institutional leadership. Mariama   Navo began her career at the Commission in June 2013 as a National Anti-Corruption Strategy Coordinating Officer in the NACS Department. She later served as a Communications Officer in the Public Education and Outreach Department, contributing to nationwide awareness and behavioral change initiatives aimed at preventing corruption.

She subsequently returned to the NACS Directorate as an Implementation Analyst, where she played a critical role in policy formulation, results monitoring, and strengthening accountability mechanisms. Her leadership and operational expertise were further demonstrated during her tenure as Regional Manager for the Northern Region, where she successfully oversaw decentralized anti-corruption programs and enhanced regional coordination for nearly six years.

As Director of the NACS Secretariat, Madam Navo provides high-level leadership in fostering multi-sectoral partnerships across government institutions, civil society, and development partners to drive the effective delivery of Sierra Leone’s anti-corruption priorities.

Mariama holds a Bachelor’s degree in Community Development and a Master’s degree in Corporate Governance and Leadership. Her professional focus lies at the intersection of governance reform, accountability systems, and inclusive policy implementation.

She is also a passionate advocate for gender equality and social justice, and the founder of Every Woman Sierra Leone, an initiative dedicated to advancing women’s rights and addressing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
