ACC COMMISSIONER HOSTS LOCAL CONTENT CONSULTATIVE FORUM QUARTERLY MEETING

NEWS ITEM

The Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., has hosted the third quarterly meeting of the Sierra Leone Local Content Agency’s (SLLCA) Local Content Consultative Forum at the ACC’s Integrity House, Tower Hill, Freetown.

The engagement, held on Wednesday, 30th September, 2026, brought together key stakeholders to discuss emerging local content strategies across growth sectors and share best practices aimed at strengthening indigenous businesses and national economic participation.

Welcoming participants, Commissioner Kaifala reaffirmed the ACC’s commitment to supporting the mandate of the SLLCA, stressing that integrity and accountability remain essential to sustainable economic growth and development.

Mr. Kaifala urged Sierra Leoneans to recognise the changing global economic environment, in which countries increasingly prioritise and protect their national interests. “One of the things we have always emphasised is for Sierra Leone to realise that the world has become inward-looking and extremely self-centred,” he said, pointing to increasing protectionism across the world.

The Commissioner stressed that Sierra Leone must similarly be deliberate in creating opportunities for, developing and protecting indigenous businesses, noting that the country cannot depend on others to advance its national economic interests.

Director-General of the SLLCA and Chairperson of the Forum, Fodeba Daboh, underscored the importance of collaboration among Government institutions, the private sector and civil society in advancing inclusive economic development.

Mr. Daboh said effective local content policies are critical to empowering Sierra Leonean businesses to grow, compete and thrive in domestic and international markets. He called on citizens to support indigenous businesses rather than undermine efforts geared towards their growth and sustainability. “My heart bleeds when I see us Sierra Leoneans undermining the implementation of local content,” he said.

Participants expressed commitment to strengthening the Consultative Forum as a platform for dialogue, collaboration and partnership, while ensuring that indigenous enterprises remain central to Sierra Leone’s economic growth and transformation.
