The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has officially launched the Second Edition of the National Girls Summit and called on girls and young women to join the fight against corruption.

The summit, which took place on Tuesday 12th October, 2021at the Freetown City Hall, is organized by the Girls Advocacy Development Network (GADNET) and its partners. The event brought together three hundred (300) girls and eminent women, who are breaking boundaries and contributing positively to society, to discuss the critical issues affecting girls, and proffer lasting solutions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, on behalf of the Commission, Margaret Murray, informed the audience that in 2019, through the Affirmative Action, the Commission under the leadership of Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., promoted 80% of its female staff. She further stated that out of the five regional offices of the Commission, two are managed by women-the Makeni and Kono offices.

Miss Murray described corruption as a devilish act that is affecting everyone, but most especially women and girls. She entreated the audience to stay resolved and register their commitment and support in fighting this enemy. "Corruption is a menace that affects every facet of life. It has affected you individually, in schools and we all have to stand up, together and collectively, to fight this menace to save the soul of this country," she added.

Miss Murray encouraged the participants to actively participate in the event and put knowledge gained into practice.
