The Deputy Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Augustine Foday Ngobie, on Wednesday, 6th August 2025, honoured with the Africa Development Award 2025 by the Africa Arise Organization, in recognition of his selfless and outstanding contributions to humanity and national development.
Presented under the theme, “Putting Africa First”, in a ceremony at his office, Integrity House, Tower Hill, Freetown, the award recognizes Mr. Ngobie as Humanitarian of the Year 2025 in West Africa, a title reserved for individuals whose lives and work have significantly impacted communities and inspired integrity-driven leadership across the continent.
Executive Director of the organization, Peter M. Konteh, noted that Mr. Ngobie was selected after a rigorous background check and interviews with people from various sectors of society. “The testimonies about Mr. Ngobie’s life were consistently powerful. He was described as a man of discipline, humility, and unwavering service. This award is not about your position in society, but the love and sacrifice you have shown for your people and country,” he stated.
While receiving the award, Mr. Ngobie said he was humbled by the recognition. “I never imagined that my quiet efforts in public and private life were being watched and appreciated,” he said. “This honour strengthens my commitment to national service and inspires me to remain a mentor and role model for the next generation.”
Although best known for his pivotal role in fighting corruption at the national level, Mr. Ngobie’s impact extends deeply into community development. Notably, he is currently spearheading a self-funded construction of a six-classroom junior secondary school in his hometown of Malegohun chiefdom in Kenema district. When completed the building will host staff quarters, a general staff room, principal’s office, and water and sanitation facilities.
This award stands as a testament to Mr. Ngobie’s lifelong dedication to ethical leadership and grassroots impact, reaffirming his place among West Africa’s most respected public servants.
